A Customer Service Inspection examines a private water distribution facility for conditions that could threaten the public water supply. Texas describes the inspection as limited to identifying and preventing cross-connections, potential contaminant hazards, and illegal lead materials.
When is a CSI commonly required?
- Before continuous water service is provided to new construction
- When a water provider has reason to believe a cross-connection or other contaminant hazard exists
- After a material improvement, correction, or addition to a private water distribution facility
